“…Noticing the simple things in nature matters more than how much time we spend in it... [Research has] found that increases in noticing nature explained higher levels of wellbeing better than people’s increased visits.”
– Nature Connection Handbook, University of Derby

Testimonial | Playful joy
Before I joined Your Wild Journal, I found myself focusing on the same aspects of nature, not progressing and becoming judgemental of my pages. Agnes' approach is encouraging. I loved that the steps were broken down into small pieces – with video and written options – I could do when I had the time available. I am astonished at the generosity of ideas and through Agnes' encouragement have tackled more than I thought I would. My creativity has changed, as this has enabled me to play with materials, use different senses and be content with the page rather than judgemental. I would never have guessed I would complete so many pages and be filled with joy while doing so.

Testimonial | Playful, fun and freeing
"Before starting the course, I thought "I don’t have time" so hadn't done any form of journaling for a while, but I knew that I needed to make time outdoors a priority and nurture my relationship with nature. Your Wild Journal has been such an inspiring, creative and eye-opening course. Agnes' encouraging and enthusiastic guidance has opened my eyes to ways in which I could engage with nature in a different way which I can fit into my busy schedule. I now have a toolbox of techniques to try and realised I really don't need hours - I can do something in my garden in fifteen minutes. It's playful, fun and freeing! I feel more myself again, more connected to the environment around me, and inspired to make this an ongoing practice."

Testimonial | From struggling to making art outside
"I was I was struggling to do any kind of art outside and had a disconnect with taking materials and doing all the things outside. Being a part of this course helped me break it all down into bite size pieces I could put into practice. Agnes provided various options, then walked us through exercises using nature itself to make marks and explore our environments. And we still have access to a treasure trove of ideas and activities - the Creative Wellspring - to use for future journaling sessions!"

Hi, I'm Agnes Becker
I’m an artist, science communicator and creator of We Are Stardust. I know what it's like to yearn for more time outside where you feel grounded, whole and alive but life feels too full on and relentless to ever make nature a priority. I know because that was me 7 years ago with a newborn baby remembering the times I used to draw outside as a teenager and desperate to do it again.
In 2019 I discovered nature journalling and gradually my practice developed into wild journalling. Today my wild journal gives me the focus and space and reason I need to go outside and enjoy quality time with the more-than-human world on my doorstep. It’s also plays a huge role in my art practice.
Wild journalling is a gift to yourself and the world
“What is the duty of humans? If gifts and responsibilities are one, then asking 'What is our responsibility?' is the same as asking 'What is our gift?'”
– Robin Wall Kimmerer, Author, Braiding Sweetgrass
